Neighborhood Stars: Aloha Vintage Base Ball Association steps up to the plate
Early November brought throwback magic to Alexander Cartwright Field in Makiki as the Aloha Vintage Base Ball Association kicked off its revival of 1880s era base ball. Founded by Waikīkī artist Matías Solario, the group brings historic rules, gear, and spirit back to life on the same grounds where the game first took root in Hawaiʻi. Part community gathering, part living history, the event celebrated local identity, storytelling, and Hawaiʻi’s deep baseball legacy.
